There is art in the birth of a new leaf and art in its wilting. There is art in the structure of the branch and the tree it sits on, and art in the colourful wings of the bird that picks the leaf up in its beak and whisks it away to line its nest. There is art in the sun beams as they filter through the leaves and nourish them, and art in the sky as it forms endless patterns with the clouds that billow in the wind.
There is art in the rain as it falls on the tree and drips down the leaf into the lake below, creating endless ripples that shimmer on its liquid surface. There is art in the bare branches of autumn as the leaves fall forming a warm, fiery art installation at the foot of the tree. There is art in the snowflakes as they cascade onto the earth, embodying the shape of existing art - dunes and plains, fields and bushes, houses and trees.
There is so much beauty in the existence of a single tree that one could weep at the sheer magnificence of it. There is so much joy in each tiny miracle of nature, that one can't help but believe in the idea of a creator, a designer of this universe, who has tirelessly detailed the minutest of things and breathed into it the power!
“Art, poetry, music, all forms of true beauty, prayer, and meditation—these are the things that will save us as individuals and, if we're lucky, civilization.”
-Joseph Massey
Nature is truly a relentless artist. It doesn’t care for an audience, for validation, for appreciation.
We may forget its constant dance of beauty and creation, ignore the fantastic art it creates from dawn to dusk, and darkness to daylight. We may take for granted its exuberance, its magnificence, its perpetuity over time and space, and yet, it continues to create because the process of creation is its basic essence. The universe is its canvas and it silently, gently, constantly goes on to pursue its endless journey of creation, putting forth countless, surreal artworks around us every moment of every day.
We never really need to visit an immersive art space, simply because we live in one.
Let’s make it a point to observe nature’s many manifestations around us and within us, for we are also a creation of nature and therefore, a piece of art.

“Nature is truly a relentless artist. It doesn’t care for an audience, for validation, for appreciation.” Beautiful images and an elegant sentiment. Nature is a breathtaking example of how I want to show up to life: fully, freely, and boldly.
Thank you for putting words to just how beautiful & artistic nature is. There is nothing that makes me feel as creative as being in nature does, and maybe this is why - I’m inspired by her own artistry.
