It is a wonderful read Minaz, once again reminding us of value of friendship above all other divides. Ours grew at a time when all the divisive layers we hear of currently were not prevalent.
Beautiful and heart-touching writing. Unfortunately, majority of people value the man-made divisions, more than humanity, which is of paramount importance. If one is true human, his value for friendship also would be equally valuable, irrespective of the identities created by humans. Humanity is the true religion man should practice more than anything else.
What would life be without friends, but over the years many are lost, maybe just because we have moved in different directions, or in fact moved away from where we grew up. I have always believed that good friends can be counted in small numbers, that is until I came to be the age I am now and realise that I actually have quite a number of friends. Not that we see each other regularly, but we keep in touch in one way or another. But each and every one of them I know if I made a call to meet it would be greeted with a resounding yes. Let’s check our calendars. We recently, ie is my husband and myself, turned 80 and we had a get together with family and friends, other than two couples who were going to be interstate, everyone we invited came, even those from interstate. It was such a lovely day.
So glad to read this Sally! One of the best things that Substack has given me is our friendship :) May you always be surrounded by friends old and new. Amen

Glad you liked it Sonal. Friendships have survived much worse. It will definitely survive these temporary turbulences :)

Awww Thanks Shreya and a big hug back to you :)
Beautiful thoughts. How I wish each one of us are able to make this come true.
What rings repetitively in my mind is what Minaz says that Friendships are too precious to sacrifice at the altar of media and politics.
